Despite the fact that K-ML was not designed to do so, a user (Nick - nick@fiddlersgreen.net) managed to run K-ML from a system running Linux, and not Microsoft's Windows as specified in K-ML's requirements
Here comes the method & recommendations from "Nick". This should not be considered as an official "How to..." from KC Softwares SARL but as "clues" by an expert user for experts users. Remember that you do it AT YOUR OWN RISKS.
- Installed wine 20041201 (after I extracted the tarball I used "./tools/wineinstall" to install and configure wine automatically)
- Installed DCOM98.exe (I am not entirely sure if this is necessary, but I did do it. "*WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole32=n" wine dcom98.exe*") http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/1/3/d13cd456-f0cf-4fb2-a17f-20afc79f8a51/DCOM98.EXE
- Installed IE6 with sidenet-wine-config utility (nice little piece of software - they have a readme that explains how to install) http://sidenet.ddo.jp/winetips/config.html
- Did a chmod on a system file (regsvr32.exe) in my fake windows directory to allow user access
- Installed K-ML and ran (wine kml.exe)
