Description | With the EOL (end of life) of some Windows operating systems, it is no longer reasonable to have them connected and reachable via Internet. But there are various use cases where special devices / equipment may only be used under such an operating system as such device manufacturers often update and migrate their software often not for year old devices, instead only for the more recent ones. Hence it would be useful to extent SUMo to operate also offline and to delegate checking to another instance on another device connected at least from time to time to the internet. That means that there should be the possibility to behave not for its own device but for another device by means of offline data exchange (import and export).
Such use cases will probably increase and nevertheless remain concerning just a minority. But it may become a unique feature advantage for SUMo when it will support such a scenario. Most tools I know require some network reachability for handling software update management.
