Hardware Driver Versions.

I have two programs that show the installed drivers, CCleaner and Dumo. They disagree on the installed version of some system drivers. Dumo thinks the version is 10.1.1.36 and CCleaner thinks it is 10.1.2.19

Any idea on why there is a difference. Where is the information coming from?

According to Windows Device Manager, which one of the 2 displays a valid information ?

First and apology for posing in the wrong section.

DUMO is showing the same version as in device manager. Not sure what happened but I found where CCleaner stored it backup files and in there I located the appropriate file and did an install of the INF file and now DUMO, CCleaner and Device manager are all stating the same version number.

That said now CCleaner is saying things are all up to date and DUMO is saying there is a later driver. V10.1.2.19 is installed and V10.1.2.80 is shown as the updated version.

I'll work on it...

OK I have done some further investigations and as far as installed drivers is concerned; I have resolved my issue. So, the difference in versions is no longer an issue.

However now that V10.1.2.19 is installed DUMO is saying that it required updating to v10.1.2.80. Having searched for "Intel 10.1.2.80" From what I can glean from various pages that I viewed this version was not up to the grade and can no longer be found and the Microsoft catalogue no longer shows it.

I would therefore ask how you decide if an update is available, in this case I don't think it is.

For another item, the Intel C600 X79 hardware the installed driver is 10.1.1.40 and you suggest that 10.1.1.45 is an update. Whilst I can find the file and when I run the installer no update to the driver takes place. So again, this would seem to be a false update.

I will be interested in your thoughts (I know this is a difficult area but trying to install the wrong drivers can render a system useless.)

Hi Kyle, Thanks for the pointer to station-drivers.com. I was looking for another driver for some other hardware and I found what I was looking for. That said I am not 100% sure that things are what they are. I downloaded a driver version that I had on my system and found the appropriate files in the driver store. I then compared the file that I downloaded from station-drivers.com against what was running on the system. What I found was that the files are different. To all intent and purpose the information and version is the same but the .sys driver file is a different size (Original 98320 and the downloaded on is 98768) and the inf file has one difference. There is also a DLL in the download that is not on my system. So, I am somewhat suspicious. Just thought I would let you know as you were kind enough to point me to the site.

Going point. Even if station-drivers is generally a trustworthy source, always necessary to check for the drivers to be genuine & safe. That's why DUMo will not download and deploy drivers update out of user control (eg : like some competitors)
